Sorry for all the secrecy a couple weeks back, but now things are finalized and moving forward, so never a better time to announce this properly than the present...
I'm extremely pleased to announce the launch of the new Repetitive Beats record label!
The label is going to be focused on the darker end of the hardcore breaks spectrum -- more deeply influenced by the '93 sound if anything. The first release will be a four-track EP from me expected to drop in November, and plans are already in the works for a second EP of various artists (quite possibly including some B2VOS forum regulars ;) ) shortly thereafter.
The first release, 12RB001, is the "Return Of The Darkside EP";
There's two ways you can help support the start of this new label; 1. Pre-order Your Copy The EP is currently available for preorder at the price of £5.99 GBP / $11.50 USD per copy, plus shipping costs. I know the price is a bit on the high side, and I hope to make it up in the future with lower prices on upcoming releases. You can find more info on how to order and reserve your copy now at the order page to secure a copy via payment through Paypal. Visit it at: http://www.r-beats.com/order.html
Additionally, to give a little something back to the people that are early supporters, the first 90 copies preordered will be on limited edition blue and black marblized vinyl!
2. Buy My Old Records Also to do a fundraiser I'm selling just about all the records in my collection right now. I have an older selection up on Discogs all with scans and MP3s under my dj_purity_control screen name, and my friend Mike is helping me out by listing the remaining records under the Repetitive_Beats screen name (tho those ones don't have MP3s). Plus, right now, since I'm trying to raise the funds for this as quickly as possible, I'm doing a sale where if you buy two records, you get a third free. The lowest priced out of the three is free, you just have to pay the shipping for the item.
If you want to buy tunes from both of us at the same time, just forward all the e-mails you get to Mike, and he'll be able to sort you out with getting a final total together without any problem.
Finally, as I mentioned earlier, if this first release does well enough I'll be putting out more releases in the future on the darkside tip. If you have any tracks that you'd like to be considered for future releases on Repetitive Beats please get in touch with me, either via PM on here or any of the other contact methods on the RB webpage. ;)
Really looking forward to finally getting this out the door!!
This one's called Rewind!, and is pretty freakin' inventive. Lots of cool martial arts style stunts made possible in a very creative manner. Probably my favorite video from the past week.
Well, I'm back to my routine of daily workouts and eating less. I never really worked out all that much in the first place, but now I'm dedicated. Definitely well due to lose some weight, and after about a week of 30-minute exercise after work, 2 diet shakes a day and 1 full meal, I've dropped 8 pounds. Pretty pleased with myself, but I've still got a weighs to go (hah).
Other than that, not too much to report. Life continues ever onward, much the same as it ever was. In a fit of boredom earlier today I decided to reinstall MAME and play some old arcade games. Just beat Galaga Arrangement (or as I like to call it, "Galaga: The Acid Trip Edition"), which was a redone version of the space shooter for one of those Namco Classic collections. Pretty fun, and unlimited lives helps a lot. :)
Cool video for the day: Me, where a girl edits together a series of pictures of herself that she's taken every day since November 2001. Very weird, but very cool -- and the music is pretty wicked, too.
That's all I've got for now. Probably about that time to get some dinner together (leftover hibachi Japanese!) and find some entertainment for the evening. Until next time...
Feeling sick to my stomach today. Think I may have caught whatever sort of bug is currently doing the rounds. I'll spare you all the messy details, suffice it to say, it wasn't pretty.
Anyway, in case you haven't noticed, I've posted up another Monday Mixtape over on my blog on Myspace. This one's breakbeat hardcore and jungle techno. Check it out if you want, it's called "Darker Side Of The Jungle" and was originally released in June 2K3.

Another random pointless blog update for the sake of updating the blog. Wee-fuckin'-hah.
What have I been up to lately? Well, last week I went out to visit Detroit for a weekend. Why? To go see Tom Waits perform live in concert. Amazing show, too, held in the old Detroit Opera House. Went out there because he was only on an eight-show tour, and he's getting up there in years so you never quite know when one of his infrequent tours might be his last. Played a large amount of stuff from his most recent album, the excellent "Real Gone", as well as quite a few favorites from the back catalogue. And the awesome thing was it was a packed house, full of people that wanted to see him. In order to kill the scalpers, what they did was make the tickets for sale ONLINE ONLY, and a maximum of two tickets per credit card could be ordered at a time. They weren't mailed, you had to pick them up at the box office, present your photo ID and credit card you ordered them with, and once you had the tickets, you couldn't go back outside. Good ideas. Anyway, like I said, absolutely awesome show and I highly recommend seeing him live if he ever comes to your neck of the woods.
Also while I was out there I managed to check out the Motown Museum (that was insanely wicked, being in the actual studio where all the classic acts recorded), and also the Henry Ford Museum. Took a tour of Ford's "Rouge" manufacturing plant which was pretty neat. Sadly, of course, what do I read earlier today except they're laying off more jobs. *sigh* Don't you just love outsourcing?
Tonight went out to see... yeah, you know. Snakes On A Plane. What can I say? It was absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt, the BEST movie I've seen all year... that starred Samuel L. Jackson fighting killer snakes on an aircraft. Not nearly as bad as the reviews are thrashing it; it had a few decent jump moments, and a fuckload of laughs. But nowhere near as good as one could hope for.
If you know me, you probably know that King Crimson is my all time favorite band. So I've been fiending like a madman ever since Sir Roberticus of the House of Fripp has been making rare recordings available for download from ALL of the King Crimson live performances in their astonishing 37 year career. Just head over to DGMLive.com and check them out. Prices start at $9.95 for most MP3 albums, or $12.95 for the albums in lossless FLAC format. And let me tell you, if you're an aficionado, it's WELL worth it.
But, even if you're not, at least you can check some of the free tracks out. Here's all the free tunes from King Crimson they currently have available, plus on the site there's many more from Robert Fripp's solo Soundscapes performances, as well as the KC side-ProjeKcts.
Just a short "checking in" update. Managed to recover a decent amount of items off the old hard drive (thanks, Ian), but many were without any sort of directory sorting. C'est la vie. Now comes the annoying task of attempting to reinstall the accumulation of several years' worth of software and drivers, the discs for many of which seem to have sprouted legs and taken up marathon running. The replacement video card -- originally gathered about a year ago, installed just fine originally -- now is making things miserable.
Also, my all-region DVD player seems to have taken a shit.
Clerks II was heftily amusing, and more than satisfied my expectations. I still wish I had been able to go into it completely cold, but in this era of media saturation, what are you gonna do... but, it was nice seeing "DJ Purity Control" flash by in the span of two seconds after everyone else had left the theatre. Thanks, Kevin. :)
The Tenespawn returns from Florida Sunday.
Oh yes... and I submitted the In Strict Confidence remix to the contest on Monday. Whether or not anything comes of it still remains to be seen. I may make this available after the contest is over. As I've mentioned before, I am very proud of it.
